Information Security and Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop
The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act/POPIA) requires all organisations to implement measures for protecting the information for which they are responsible. The protection of personal information is, therefore, a legal obligation.
The protection of personal information is also a responsibility and obligation of all business management as the persons’ and organisations (data subjects) whose information expect their personal information to be protected in a secure and lawful manner.
What are the Workshop Objectives?
The Information and Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop aims to provide awareness of the subject of information and cybersecurity and the context of these from a Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act/POPIA) and business perspective.

- POPIA Security Safeguards Requirements
- Introduction to Personal Information Risk Management
- Introduction to Information and Cybersecurity Standards and Frameworks
- Practical Security Safeguard Measures
- Cloud Security Measures e.g Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
- Personal action plans

- Information Security Management team members
- Cybersecurity Management team members
- Information Technology practitioners
- Service Providers (Operators in particular), should attended this workshop.
What is the duration of the workshop?
The workshop has a duration of approximately 3 hours. It is normally scheduled to take place between 09:00 and 12:00.
How is the workshop delivered?
The workshop is delivered as a virtual workshop using Zoom or in person for in-organisation delivery.
Who facilitates the workshop?
The Information Officer Training Workshop is facilitated by John Cato both who is a Certified Data Protection Officer and has in depth experience in this field.
Will I receive a certificate for the workshop?
An e-certificate of attendance will be provided for each delegate who completes the workshop.
What are the workshop costs?
Workshop costs are R 1,200.00.00 plus VAT per delegate. Second and subsequent bookings from the same organisation for the same delivery dates are at R 1,000.00 plus VAT per delegate.
When are the workshops held?
Workshops are held periodically or more frequently if there is sufficient demand.
