Information Officer Training Workshop

The Information Officer Training Workshop is aimed at enabling Information Officers and Deputy Information Officers and members of privacy and data protection teams to obtain a clear understanding of the duties of the Information Officer as stated in POPIA, PAIA and associated Regulations and the Guidance Note on Information Officers and Deputy Information Officers.

The Protection of Information Act (POPIA) and the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) both require the appointment of an Information Officer and where applicable, to appoint one or more Deputy Information Officers.

The Information Officer and Deputy Information Officer roles are essential for ensuring that compliance is established, monitored and maintained on an ongoing basis. It is therefore essential that the responsibilities of these roles are understood by officers fulfilling these roles.
